Disc jockeys and commentators, especially the younger upcoming ones, have a tendency to copy the styles of those that they look up. That's natural, after all, isn't imitation the best form of flattery? In the world of broadcasting, especially where the announcers are concerned, copying is oftentimes done without discernment or discretion and the consequences can be extremely damning.

By the time this entry gets posted, veteran disc jockey Rick Dees would have been inducted into the National Broadcasters Association Hall Of Fame. Although this is not Rick's first induction into any sort of hall of fame, the NAB induction couldn't have come at a better time.

With the unnecessary controversy stirred up recently by a radio personality who exercised poor judgment, radio needs to shift the spotlight on something positive. Rick Dees is by no means a "shock jock," not in the way the term is used to describe folks like, well, Don Imus. In his twenty-five plus years of waking up the city of Los Angeles, Rick has had his share of crude humor. But his type of humor is almost always aimed at the lighter side. There is never any socially or emotionally charged statements that is the staple of shock jocks.

The big news from the past week is that of Don Imus. He uttered some very hurtful things but Imus has been contrite. Yet no one seems to be in a forgiving mood, considering we just celebrated Easter a few days ago.

For the Christian world, Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ who died on the cross so that everyone's sins can be forgiven. With that premise, why is it still so hard for many, including the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, to forgive Imus?
